OUR STORY

Our Story

a Nebraska tradition

Fuehrer’s Cheespred has been a beloved part of Nebraska families since 1960, offering a rich, creamy flavor that brings people together. But our story starts even earlier—back in 1946, when Eddie Fuehrer returned from World War II and opened Fuehrer’s Market in Sutton, Nebraska. What began as a small, specialty meat shop soon grew into a full grocery store, serving fresh produce, German-style meats, and, eventually, a recipe that would become a household favorite.

In 1960, Eddie and his wife, Laurie, introduced Fuehrer’s Cheespred, a creamy, flavorful cheese spread crafted from a family recipe. It quickly became a local favorite, enjoyed at gatherings, celebrations, and everyday moments. As demand for the cheespred grew, the Fuehrer family devoted more of their time to perfecting and expanding the brand, ensuring that every container delivered the same classic taste people had come to love. What started as a local specialty soon found its way onto store shelves across Nebraska, becoming a staple in households and family traditions.

After Eddie and Laurie’s passing in the early 2000s, their children, Dee and Jerry Fuehrer, honored their parents’ legacy by further expanding the cheespred business, making it available to even more families across the Midwest. After Jerry passed in 2014, Dee kept the business going. Today, Fuehrer’s Cheespred remains a family operation, now owned and run by Dee and her son, Scott Worster. Together, they continue to uphold the tradition of quality, using the same cherished recipe that has made Fuehrer’s Cheespred a staple for generations.
